4K and 8K
One great benefit now that 8K has come to the market: 4K displays have become more affordable in comparison. So, if you hadn’t gotten around to upgrading your existing TV screen to 4K yet, now’s the time! And if you’re in the market to upgrade to 8K, you’ve got so many options to choose from, and many debuted at CEDIA this year. Your entire family’s home theater experience will improve!
LG debuted their largest Signature 8K OLED TV, coming in at a whopping 88 inches, with 33 million self-lit pixels and 8K resolution. You can experience perfect blacks and hyper-realistic pictures with incredible contrast. This phenomenal display uses AI and deep learning to upscale content into 8K, and its processor also upscales 2-channel audio to virtual 5.1 surround sound. In addition to being one of the thinnest TVs in the world, thanks to its OLED technology, it’s also operable with voice control, can personalize your entertainment and will be able to control your connected smart home with LG ThinQ.
Projectors and Screens
Projector and screen combinations have been around for a while, but several new projectors were showcased at CEDIA. Reputable brands like Epson, JVC and LG gave flat panel displays a run for their money, and not only are they easy to install, but they pair great with screens outfitted with ambient-light rejecting (ALR) materials and frames. The short-throw projector from Epson, the UST, is 4K-compatible and uses 4K PRO-UHD pixel-shifting technology, but it also recognizes HDR content.
Whatever projector you choose to install in your home theater is capable of hiding inside the ceiling. This means you can lower it from its hiding place whenever you want to watch the latest blockbuster or your favorite TV shows. The same hidden technology can work for your projection screen as well! Rest easy that your décor won’t suffer from a projector and screen home theater installation.
Wellness Spaces
One of the biggest home theater trends seen at CEDIA 2019 is the move to make your home theater space work double duty; turn it into a relaxing wellness retreat. Seems a little odd at first but stick with us – it makes sense! You already have the foundations of great audio, great images and great lighting, so why not use those solutions to create an immersive, perhaps even meditative, space in your home?
Pipe relaxing nature sounds through your dynamic architectural speakers while displaying relaxing nature images on your 4K TV display (or 8K display if you’ve already adopted this new trend). Once you roll out your yoga mat, use voice control or your Lutron remote to dim the lighting and lower the motorized blackout shades. Now you can experience a restorative and relaxing yoga session in the comfort of your designated home theater.
